Thoughts From a Pine Tree
“We feel you through the root system stretching out into the land and connecting with the Earth and other trees. We feel and see all who touch us in our neighboring areas as messages are passed between the conscious tethers of our microscopic roots (mycelium and roots) bringing us all into union with each other. We see in your mind the knowledge of science discovering what ancients knew of us long in the past. That we are conscious, alive, capable, and able to communicate with each other. What they see as chemical reactions and simple acts of a living organism rooted to the land are in fact conscious activities that they do not understand. It is no different than two humans trading money for packages in the midst of the trees. (literally shows me a drug exchange) We exchange nutrients and information between each other of our own volition, not the voluntary reactions of chemical interactions. We choose to send the biological substances into the spaces to create those reactions. Which humanity has determined as just a natural force of our existence. But our consciousness makes it so. Our energy. Our ability to work with others in the worlds beyond your own. We are aware of ourselves. We may not move far from the stump, but we are far more conscious than many would be willing to give us credit for. And when they see the trees are intelligent beings, they may fear us for our strengths to send communications among the leaves and needles. But we are simply sending information to others around the world. Learning and entertaining ourselves as we watch the world move around us. What else is there for us to do but observe? That is all, my friend. Thank you for your awareness. No name is necessary. We are one. The land you sit on.”
